The name Taizé comes from an ecumenical monastery founded during WW2 in Taizé, France. Today the community is home to monks of more than thirty nationalities and receives about 100,000 visitors from around the world each year to work, study and pray. Their multi-lingual identity has inspired a unique form of worship in which participants sing short verses repeatedly in a contemplative spirit. You can also expect periods of silence, Scripture readings, and prayers. Advent’s service will be held in candlelight, led by a pianist.
Although our church ordinarily welcomes the sounds of children in our services, please do not bring children into this particular service unless they are able to participate quietly.
Our childcare staff will arrive at 6:30pm for those who’d like to come early to get settled.
