The Great Triduum is one of the most significant traditions of the Church, dating back to the first centuries. It refers to the "great three days" of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter, which are each core events in our faith. Participating in all three days together adds depth and power to our remembrance and celebration of God's great love revealed to us in Jesus' death and resurrection.

Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday commemorates Jesus' last night on earth. It reminds us of the love and humility Jesus reflected in washing his disciples feet, which also points to our cleansing of sin through his great sacrifice. At this service, we do a ritual foot washing as Jesus commanded his disciples to do in remembrance of what he did for them. It is a powerful time of focusing on the significance of the Last Supper, as it provides a larger space for us to enter into the event behind all our Eucharistic celebrations.

Good Friday

The glory of Easter is only properly understood in the context of the shame and sorrow of Good Friday. This powerful service provides the space to remember and enter into the meaning and power of the events that led to his crucifixion and the sorrow and the beauty of his great sacrifice for us and for the whole world.

Easter Morning

Easter is central to our faith, of course, as it commemorates the steadfast love of God revealed in the resurrection of Christ from the grave and secures our hope that all the sorrows and sins of this world have been overcome in and through him. The bodily resurrection of Christ from the grave is the central event of our faith and our hope.
